In 2020 we went on a rescue mission to save over 20 tons of new old stock of lead type.
The type comes from American Type Foundry, New England Type Foundry, Chicago Type Founders, Stephenson Blake & Co., Prince & Smith of Toronto, Bauer Alphabets Inc, and so many more. It’s all brand new in package, some are date stamped as far back as the 50s, though we suspect that some specimens could be as old as early 1900s.
All of this type was carefully collected by Don Black Linecasting over many decades as Don and Craig gave letterpress equipment and parts a second chance at life. We couldn’t let this legacy end up scrapped when Don retired.
With the tireless help of many print friends, we've begun to catalog the collection, making it available for sale for the first time since 2020.

This is new old stock, complete and in package. We will ship as-is, unless packaging is damaged, missing, or already opened.
